Rescue team saved after boat capsizes off Zeeland coast
Three members of the Rescue Brigade were rescued themselves on Wednesday night when their boat capsized off the Zeeland coast. They called the Coast Guard themselves, who sent a helicopter to search for them.
"It took about an hour before they were found. The search was hard, because they found it difficult to indicate exactly where they were", a spokesperson for the Coast Guard said to news wire ANP. "Fortunately, as members of the Rescue Brigade, they were dressed well, so they did not get hypothermia."
The Rescue Brigade members, two men and a woman, were found clinging to their capsized boat. They were taken to Neeltje Jans, a work island halfway to Oosterscheldekering, where an ambulance crew stood ready to treat them.
According to the Coast Guard, the three are doing well under the circumstances. The reason the boat capsized is unclear.
