Human leg found on Dutch beach

A human leg was found washed up on the beach in Westkapelle near Joossesweg on Friday morning. The gruesome discovery was made by hikers. The leg consists of a lower part of leg, from just below the knee to the foot. The foot was still wearing a shoe, Omroep Zeeland reports. The police took the leg away. It is unclear where it came from. It could have washed ashore from, for example, England due to the current. A forensic team will check DNA from the leg against the DNA database of missing persons. If there is no match, the search will be expanded to international missing persons databases.
