KPN takes Fox Sports to court over football channel

KPN is taking sports channel Fox Sports to court over over Fox's demand that its main channel, which broadcasts the Premier League football, be included in the standard package, NOS reports. Currently KPN customers can choose to add Fox Sports channels to their package at an extra monthly cost. According to KPN, if the main Fox Sports channel is added to the basic package, it would become more expensive for all customers. "Fox set new requirements, which we do not find in the interest of our customers", KPN director Eelco Blok said to NOS. "We negotiated for a long time, nothing came from it and we now want the judge to decide." The current contract between KPN and Fox Sports is expiring at the end of the month. A new agreement must be reached before then, or KPN customers may not be able to watch the football. "The case is now before the court", Blok said. The court will rule on Friday.
