Jos Nijhuis will remain the CEO of Schiphol airport for the time being. His contract, which would have expired on January 1st next year, was extended by two years. Though the CEO will earn significantly less in his new term than what he does now, the Volkskrant reports.
According to the newspaper, Nijhuis currently earns about 800 thousand euros a year, including bonuses. In the new term he will get an annual salary of 412,902 euros, plus a maximum bonus of 20 percent.
Nijhuis started as CEO of Amsterdam's airport in 2009. The Supervisory Board found his management of the airport successful. President Commissioner Louise Gunning praised him for, among other things, laying the foundation for the construction of a new pier and the development of the station area. She is confident that he can face the challenges the coming years will bring.
