Discount grocer Lidl to open online shop for Dutch market
German discount supermarket chain Lidl launched an online store for Dutch customers on Monday. Non-food products like utensils, clothing and home accessories can be bought on the site, Lidl Nederland said on Monday, NU.nl reports.
Lidl Nederland is working behind the scenes on expanding the online assortment. Later this year additional products like wine and functionalities will be added.
Ordered products will be delivered within two working days either to customers' homes or a DHL point. Shipping fees are applicable. At this point items can not be shipped to a Lidl store.
"The Netherlands is a country where much is happening online", a Lidl Nederland spokesperson said to NU.nl. "This is a logical step for Lidl Nederland. We are happy to be where our customers are and the online is indispensable."
