Large fire in Breda shopping center

A massive fire raged in a residential shopping center on Kruisvoort in Breda during the early hours of Thursday morning. The fire caused large amounts of smoke. As far as is known, no one was injured. The fire started just before midnight in lighting specialty store Lampidee, according to NU.nl. That block of the center also holds stores Sofa Nova, Heerlyck Wonen, Heerlyck Slapen and Bankstel XL. The extent of damage to these stores is still unknown. Firefighters got the fire under control around 6:45 a.m., but are still working on extinguishing it. Five fire engines, three platforms and a foam extinguishing vehicle are at the scene. Local residents were warned to stay out of the smoke and keep windows and doors closed. The Woonboulevard Breda XXL is located next to the A16 near junction Princeville. Surrounding roads were closed and traffic was redirected. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
