FC Twente relegated over finance scandal as court sides with KNVB

FC Twente will be playing in the Jupiler League next season instead of the Eredivisie. On Friday the court in Midden-Nederland ruled in favor of the KNVB in the lawsuit the club filed against the football association, NOS reports This means that the penalty the KNVB imposed on FC Twente - relegation to the Jupiler league - remains in place. The KNVB's license committee imposed this punishment due to financial mismanagement at the club. The Enschede club decided to fight the relegation in court, but unsuccessfully as it turns out. On Monday FC Twente explained why they disagree with the punishment imposed to the KNVB's appeals committee on licensing issues. According to NOS, this is now irrelevant as the committee's decision can not change the court's ruling.
