Dutch tourist drowned during Bali snorkeling trip
A Dutch tourist drowned during a snorkeling trip in Pemuteran, north of the Indonesian island of Bali. The victim is 76-year-old Anton de Jongh, AD reports.
According to the newspaper, De Jongh went snorkeling with his wife in two friends. The woman and her friends returned to the beach and waited for De Jongh for over an hour. The man's floating body was found later the afternoon, police chief Gusti Ngurah Alit Putra told Indonesian media.
De Jongh was rushed to the emergency room, but nothing could be done for him. His body was taken to the Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar for an autopsy. "He probably drowned, but we are investigating the exact circumstances of this tragic accident", the police chief said.
