Arrest made in torching of Haarlem mayor’s car

A 45 year old man was arrested earlier this week for setting Haarlem Mayor Bernt Schneiders' car on fire in June last year, the police announced. The man was arrested in Haarlem after the police spread his description on Opsporing Verzocht last week. The police believe he was the one who set the car on fire, but are still looking for whoever ordered him to do so. Last year there were suspicions that the car fire was the work of motorcycle gang Hell's Angels. A few weeks before the fire, Schneiders made statements to the media welcoming a crackdown on motorcycle gangs and the arrest of Hell’s Angels leader, Lysander de R. It is unclear whether the suspect arrested this week is connected to the motorcycle gang.
