Cinemas to screen Purple Rain in Prince memorial

Numerous cinemas in the Netherlands will be screening the movie Purple Rain, starring prince himself, this week. The movie will be screened to honor the pop icon, who passed away. Kinepolis cinemas in Dordrecht, Enschede and Groningen are screening the movie on Thursday and Sunday, according to numerous Dutch news agencies. Twelve Pathe cinemas, including those in Breda, Arnhem and Tilburg, will be screening the 1984 movie at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. And in Amsterdam, Purple Rain will be shown at the Tuschinski on Reguliersbreestraat. Tickets are already on sale. Purple Rain was Prince's first movie. The then 35-year-old artist played the role of Kid, a musician trying to escape from a chaotic home situation through his music and his love for beautiful Apollonia. The movie won a Grammy and an Oscar for the soundtrack, which included the title song and other hits like When doves cry and Let's go crazy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=78&v=AuXK8ZbTmLk
