Up to a year prison demanded for sex with teen prostitute
The Public prosecutor demanded prison time against three suspects in the Valkenburg teen prostitution case in court on Wednesday. They are all suspected of having paid sex with an underage girl.
The court handled four suspects on Wednesday - a 30 year old man from Simpelveld, a 40 year old man from Zwolle and two Belgians aged 33 and 24, according to Dutch newspaper AD.
Against the 30 year old, the Public Prosecutor demanded 8 months in jail, for of which conditionally suspended. The suspect was not in court to hear the demand. The Zwolle man was in court. He admits going to the girl and paying her, but denies that anything happened between them. The Public Prosecutor demanded 12 months in jail against him.
The case against the first Belgian suspect was postponed because the file is not complete. The other Belgian suspect was present at court and confessed. The Public Prosecutor demanded 10 months in prison against him, 4 of which conditionally suspended.
This case started when the police raided a hotel room in the Botterweck hotel in Valkenburg in October 2014. Officers caught one man in the act of having sex with a then 16-year-old girl. The rubbish bin was full of used condoms. Loverboy, and prime suspect in the case, 21 year old Armin A. was sitting in the bathroom.
A. was arrested in July last year and was later sentenced to two years in prison. He arranged clients for the girl and handled the money. The pimp claimed that he was doing Kimberly a favor - she wanted to go into prostitution and he was just making sure she's safe.
The Public Prosecutor believes that "Kimberly" had sex with 80 men. 29 of these customers, aged between 21 and 56 years old, were prosecuted. Most were sentenced to community service with one day in prison. Two committed suicide before the prosecution began.
Eighteen of the convicted Johns voluntarily paid compensation to Kimberly, their lawyers said to 1Limburg. A total of 24 men were convicted in this case last year
