Three Dutch arrested in Poland in weapons purchase

Three Dutch were arrested in the Polish city of Gdynia after trying to buy a Kalashnikov and a pistol without a license. At their arraignment on Wednesday it was decided that they will remain in custody at least for another two months, broadcaster NOS reports. According to the broadcaster, the three tried to purchase the firearms at a gun shop on Monday, but the owner refused them because they had no license. They then tried to bribe the owner by offering to pay twice as much as the weapons are worth. The owner refused this as well and called the police. The Dutch trio was arrested by an anti-terrorism sometime later. The gun shop owner told a Polish news site that the three men had an Arab appearance and spoke Arabic between themselves. The Polish prosecutor is charging them with trying to buy firearms without a license. If they are convicted, they can face up to eight years in prison. The men deny breaking the law.
