Report: Small town mayor seen getting intimate with teen girl

A photo of Remkums mayor Jean Paul Gebben in what seems to be an intimate situation with a 17 year old go is circulating on the internet. The mayor explained himself to his aldermen on Tuesday, the Gelderlander reports. According to Gebben, he went out with his 18 year old son and a group of his son's friends on the Korenmarkt in Arnhem on Saturday, February 27th. He had too much to drink and around 1:30 a.m. on February 28th, he fell on the street. One of his son's friends, the girl in the photo, helped him up while a police officer called him a taxi. The photo shows Gebben and the girl standing with faces very close together, as if leaning in for a kiss. Gebben insists that "nothing happened". "Just before I left in the taxi, she said goodbye to me with three kisses on my cheeks. That is it", Gebben said. "There is no crime, no offense was commited. I did not assault her, did not kiss her." The mayor is still "very sorry" for the "big blunder". It was not behavior befitting a mayor, he said. "As a father, let alone as mayor, you should not walk around tipsy or drunk on the Korenmarkt." Gebben already informed the chairman of the political factions in his city council about the incident.
