Dog mauling leaves toddler critically injured
A three-year-old girl was critically injured on Wednesday after a dog attacked her and her mother while they were out for a walk. The toddler was bitten repeatedly in the attack, while her mother’s arm was injured.
Emergency vehicles took the girl to the Sophia children’s hospital in Rotterdam. An air ambulance was among the vehicles dispatched to the scene after the 11:30 a.m. incident.
The mother and daughter were walking in a gangway off the Professor Snelliusweg in Sliedrecht, Zuid-Holland, when the dog attacked, a police report stated. The dog belongs to a local resident.
A dog specialist working for the police managed to get the dog under control. Police took the dog into custody.
