Higher education told to be more honest on job prospects, salaries
Publishers of educational materials Keuzegids and Decaan.net are calling on higher education institutions to be more honest and transparent in information provided to prospective students, Het Parool reports.
In a report released on Monday the two publishers state that information given to prospective students is currently too much influenced by universities and colleges' marketing interests. Job, salaries and chance of success are all presented as too rosy. Study information is often incomplete. And inadequate attention is paid to private education.
"It's not right that universities and colleges are responsible for providing independent and critical information, while they have clear interests in it", intercity student consultation organization ISO said to the newspaper in reaction to the report.
