Dutch “Horror Dentist” on trial in French patient mutilation case

Dutch man Mark N., better known as the Horror Dentist, is appearing in court in Nevers, France on Tuesday for the mutilation of dozens of patients, the Telegraaf reports. N. is accused of drugging and maiming 120 patients in his practice in the French village of Chateau-Chinon. He fled to Canada in 2013 after being questioned by the French police. He was arrested there and extradited to the Netherlands, after confessing to killing his wife with assisted suicide. The Netherlands in turn extradited him to France to face mutilation charges. The Dutch prosecutor recently decided that N. will not be prosecuted for helping his wife commit suicide. Should the French court convict N., he could face a 10 year prison sentence and a 150 thousand euros fine.
