Body found in burnt out van in Amsterdam
A body was found in a burning vehicle in Amsterdam on Tuesday morning. The dark colored Volkswagen Caddy stood parked on Mijehof in Zuidoost, according to the police. The car had no licence plates.
The police received the first report of the car fire around 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Firefighters discovered the body while working on extinguishing the fire.
A witness told AT5 that he heard a loud bang, followed by two softer explosions around 2:00 a.m. "It was really scary to see, the burning car. It was really completely on fire. Terrifying", the eyewitness said. "They shone a lantern on the wreck and then one of the firefighters said that he saw a leg sticking out of the car."
The police believe that a crime was committed and are calling on witnesses to come forward. The identity of the body is still unknown.
