Snowfall likely this afternoon
Meteorological Institute KNMI expects snowfall in the Netherlands this afternoon, and therefore issued a code yellow weather warning for slick roads over evening rush hour.
The snowfall will start in the west of the country and move eastwards during the course of the afternoon. It will turn to rain relatively quickly in the west, but the northeast and east of the country can expect a lingering layer of snow.
The code yellow weather warning for slick roads covers Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe Overijssel and Gelderland. It will be in effect from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., but road users should still be careful of slick spots even after the warning expired.
Maximum temperatures will be between 3 degrees in the east of the country and 7 degrees in the southwest.
For the most part the rain and snow will leave the country during the course of the night, though it will remain cloudy.
Wednesday will be cloudy with several showers, maybe accompanied by thunder and lightning. Afternoon temperatures will be around 7 degrees.
