Metal drum piece smashed through German driver’s windscreen
The metal object that seriously injured a 36-year-old German motorists by smashing through his windshield on the N270 near Deurne on Monday, is a piece of a metal drum-brake. The police believe that it came from a semi-trailer or truck.
The piece of brake came flying through the German's windshield and hit him in the face. His passenger managed to pull the car off the road safely. The victim was rushed to the hospital in a trauma helicopter with serious head injuries.
The police are calling on witnesses to come forward. They believe that the truck or trailer the drum piece came from is dark in color and may have been standing still somewhere between Binderendreef and Bakelseweg.
