Chemicals left on playground slide severely burns child, 3

A three year old boy sustained serious burns while playing on a slide on Hooge Weere in Zwaag on Saturday. His doctor believes the burns were caused by a chemical substance, like glue or paint remover, on the slide. "He came home crying and with his pants around his ankles. At first the wound seemed to be a regular abrasion and we thought it is not serious", the boy's father said to RTV Noord-Holland. "But the next morning it was a burn of about 15 centimeters in diameter, and we went to the doctor." The parents reported the incident to the police, who is doing a technical investigation. The municipality is also investigating. The boy's father believes that young troublemakers are behind it.
