Five Iraqi migrants with hypothermia found hidden in truck; Driver held

Five young men were found stowed away in the back of a refrigerated truck in Warmenhuizen on Thursday afternoon. All five stowaways were suffering from hypothermia. The 53-year-old Spanish truck driver was arrested. According to the police, the truck arrived at the site of a company on Debbemeerweg around 3:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. Another truck driver heard knocking noises coming out of the back and discovered the stowaways. The driver claims he had no idea that there were people in the back of his truck. He told the police he made a stopover in France and that the men might have sneaked into the back of the truck there. The driver is still in police custody. The police believe that the men are from Iraq. They were transferred to the Immigration Police.
