Museum pass used in eight million visits to cultural institutions
Museum pass holders paid 8.3 million visits to cultural institutions in the Netherlands last year, an increase of 8 percent compared to the 7.4 million visits in 2014, the Museum Association announced.
The number of museum pass holders also increased from 1.1 million in 2014 to 1.2 million last year. According to the Museum Association, museum pass holders visit cultural institutions an average of 6.8 times per year. "That shows a strong bond between museums and public".
The Museum Association attributes the increase in visits and pass holders to the opening of reopening of museums, extraordinary exhibitions and the extension in the number of cultural institutions that accept the museum pass.
The museum pass was first introduced 35 years ago. It costs 59.90 euros and is valid for one year from the date of purchase. Kids under the age of 18 pay 32.45 euros. Museum passes can be ordered here.
