Dandy Warhols kick off Top 2000; John Lennon voted #1

Minister Jet Bussemaker of Culture opened the Top 2000 on Radio 2 in the Institute for Image and Sound in Hilversum on Friday morning by announcing the song Bohemian Like You by The Dandy Warhols as the first song to be played. According to NU, she made a little mistake by saying the song came in 200th place, instead of 2000th, but DJ Bart Arens quickly corrected her slip. The other 1,999 songs on the list will be played during the 159-hour long marathon with number one playing at midnight on New Year's eve. This year's first place is Imagine by John Lennon. Queen came in second with Bohemian Rhapsody. Claudia de Breij is the Dutch artist to make it highest on the list in fourth place, with her song Mag ik dan bij jou. A number of DJ's will be taking the microphone during this marathon, including Gerard Ekdom, Gijs Staverman and Rob Stenders.
