Suspect in mother, daughter murders arraigned in court

The person suspected of killing a mother and her daughter in Lelystad was ordered held in custody for at least another two weeks. Alex L. is accused of murdering his partner, Manon Pieters, 41, and Fleur van der Mark, 16. The two women were reported missing over the weekend when Pieters' son could not contact her, his sister, Van der Mark, or his step father, L. Police eventually found the bodies hidden in a crawl space in the family’s Lelystad home. Days after the murder, a friend told reporters that Pieters was planning on leaving L. “Always arguing, always scolding and always grumbling at each other,” L.’s father said. By order of a magistrate, L. was sent to a detention center while the investigation into the case continues.
