Man who savagely beat train conductor gets year in prison

The court in Haarlem sentenced the homeless Rotterdam man Swendly R. to one year in prison and psychiatric treatment for assaulting a conductress at the Hoofddorp in March. The sentence is equal to what the Prosecutor demanded, NOS reports. The assault happened at the Hoofddorp station on March 6th of this year. The 44 year old woman sustained several fractures, including a shattered eye socket. The conductress is still confined to a wheelchair. She cannot remember the attack. R. still insists that he did not attack the woman, only saw her lying on the ground as he left the train.
