Rare Dutch comic book could fetch €20,000 at auction

Online auction site Catawiki is auctioning off a rare Dutch-language comic book this week. The comic book - De Vrolijke Avonturen van Doris Dobbel, by Belgian cartoonist Marc Sleen - appeared in 1952 and is in near-mint condition. Catawiki expects the comic book will sell for between 14 thousand and 19 thousand euros. The auction site believes that only 100 copies of the comic book was ever printed, of which only eight's whereabouts are currently known - three without a cover, five with. The comic book was created as a prize for a contest in a magazine. With six days of the auction left to go, the current highest bid stands at 12 thousand euros.
