Dozens of girls victimized in new webcam abuse case
The Rotterdam police and Public Prosecutor are investigating a new webcam abuse case in which dozens of underage girls and girls with mental disabilities were talked into adopting sexual poses and committing sexual acts in front of a webcam.
The suspect, a 34 year old man from Rotterdam, was arrested in October. He is also suspected of producing child pornography because he stored the images of his victims. The police came onto the man's trail after three similar reports of underage girls being enticed into sexual acts over the internet.
The police searched the man's home earlier this year and confiscated computers, laptop, an external hard drive and several cellphones. These devices were analyzed. More than 600 chats, often with a sexual nature, thousands of photos and messages were discovered. The information showed that the man was in touch with dozens of girls. He often convinced the girls to undress for him by posing as a representative of popular pop bands, including the band B-Brave.
The police were able to identify a large number of victims and made contact with them. A number of the girls have come forward and some are still thinking about whether or not to report the crime. The Prosecutor and police are convinced that there are more victims that haven't been found yet.
