Brother of murdered politician Pim Fortuyn re-launching nationalist party
Marten Fortuyn, brother of murdered politician Pim Fortuyn, wants to relaunch nationalist party LPF under the name Pim Marten Fortuyn, or PMF. He hopes to get going within the next 14 days.
Fortuyn announced this in an interview with RTV Rijnmond. He feels its time to step up because in the many years since his brother's murder - in Rotterdam in 2002 - nothing has changed. "What triggered me is the was the media started demonization with the name of Wilders and Le Pen. Then I thought: now it's over. I'm 72, i'm in a wheelchair, but otherwise i'm in good body and mind, so I'm starting a political party." he said to the broadcaster.
Within the next 12 months, Fortuyn wants a government of national unity. He wants more money given to Defense and the police. He would like to see Rotterdam mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb as a Minister and is very enthusiastic about Leefbaar Rotterdam and alderman Joost Eerdmans. He is also not ruling out collaboration with the PVV and Geert Wilders.
And he wants to change the whole "system". "The system is rotten. The government, the banks, they all got us into this situation." he said. "Rutte should quit and go for fresh elections. If he doesn't, we'll go for a national survey. The time is ripe for that."
