Winds up to 100 km/h trigger nationwide weather alert

Strong winds and autumn thunderstorms will be hitting the Netherlands on Friday afternoon. The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute issued a code yellow weather warning for gusts up to 100 kilometers per hour. The storms will enter the country from the West late afternoon. In addition to the very strong winds, the storms may be accompanied by lightning, thunder and hail. The KNMI advises to stay away from open water and open areas and not to take shelter under trees. The weather will remain turbulent throughout the evening, especially in the coastal areas. Afternoon temperatures will reach around 13 degrees.
