Woman arrested for dead babies found in Heerhugowaard

The police have arrested a 31 year old woman from Alkmaar on Wednesday in connection with the bodies of two babies found in Heeruhugowaard earlier this month. The woman is the children's mother. According to the police, her DNA matched that of both babies. She is in custody and is only allowed contact with her lawyer. For this reason the police will not be releasing any further information on this case for the time being. The first gruesome discovery was made on October 8th. The body of a baby was found in a bag in a shed on Schelde in Heerughowaard. During the investigation, the police discovered the body of a second baby. The owner of the shed, Sandra Popma, quickly revealed that a homeless friend sometimes used the shed for storage. DNA tests revealed that neither Popma or her friend are the children's mother. Their involvement in the case is still under investigation.
