Some charges dropped against Amanda Todd webcam abuse suspect

The Public Prosecutor has dropped some of the charges against Tilburg resident Aydin C., the prime suspect in the Amanda Todd case. C. is accused of inciting dozens of young people into sexual acts via webcam and then blackmailing them with the footage. The Prosecutor wants to prosecute C. for both producing and distributing child pornography. Both these charges still stand for his Dutch victims. But the first charge - producing child pornography - has been dropped for international victims, both C.'s lawyer Christian van Dijk and the Public Prosecutor confirmed to Omroep Brabant. It is not clear whether this charge was dropped due to lack of evidence. The foreign victims come from, among others, America England and Canada, including the Canadian teen Amanda Todd. She committed suicide after the harassment that followed her blackmailer spreading sexual images of the girl among her acquaintances. C. has denied his involvement in this case. The Todd trial will not be handled in the Netherlands, but in Canada once the Dutch criminal case is finished. Canada still has to submit an extradition request. The Dutch criminal trial against Aydin C. will start in April 2016. The court expects to need 9 trail days to reach a verdict.
