Velsen man shoots self with crossbow after injuring woman

A 45-year-old man shot himself with a crossbow when the police tried to arrest him in a home on Van Nidekstraat in Velsen-Noord. A severely injured woman, 49, was also discovered in the home. The police responded to the address on Monday night after several reports of a man walking the streets with a crossbow, NU reports. The man fled into the house when the police arrived. The police followed him into the house. The man, who is the owner of the house, shot himself with the crossbow when the officers tried to arrest him. Upon searching the house, the officers discovered the wounded woman. The police are investigating what exactly happened. The relationship between the man and woman is still unclear.
