Anti-Islam party calls police on supporter's racial hatred tweet
The Zeeland provincial branch of anti-Islam party PVV will be pressing charges against a man who applauded arson at a refugee center on behalf of the PVV Middelburg. The man did so in a tweet he posted on Monday.
Peter van Dijk, chairman of the PVV provincial branc, confirmed this to Omroep Zeeland.
"Well done, that should be done everywhere. Parasites shelter Sweden goes up in flames", the tweet read, referring to an article in the Telegraaf about a school in Sweden burning down. The school accommodated about 80 refugees.
Van Dijk told the broadcaster that the PVV will be pressing charges of criminal behavior. "If you call on people on behalf of the PVV to set fire to buildings, that is a call to a criminal, violent act." he said. "We reject all forms of violence. We fight our enemies with words, not violence." Van Dijk clearly stated that the PVV is not associated with the tweet and that there is not even a PVV faction in Middelburg.
The faction leader continued that his people think they have identified the person behind the tweet, but the police will have to investigate. The Twitter account the tweet was posted from has since been removed.
