Military officer arrested for information leak

A 27-year-old officer for the Koninklijke Marechaussee, the Royal Military Police, was arrested late last month on suspicion of leaking sensitive information about investigations to crime groups. The officer was a member of the Schiphol team, a cooperation between the marechaussee and customs working against drug trafficking through the airport. He was arrested on September 28th and remanded into another two months in custody last week, the Public Prosecutor confirmed to NU. The man is formally suspected of violation of his confidentiality and at this time may only have contact with his lawyer. The Public Prosecutor stressed that this case has no connection to the case of 28 year old cop Mark M., who was arrested on September 29th, also for leaking information on ongoing investigations to criminals. Another police officer, a 45 year old man from Eindhoven, was also arrested on Monday. This Eindhoven officer is also suspected of leaking information. The Public Prosecutor stated that this case also has no connection to the case involving Mark M.
