Photos: MH17 reconstruction and Dutch investigation

The Dutch Safety Board presented its report on the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the MH17 disaster on Tuesday. Along with the final report on the investigation, victim's relatives, journalists and politicians also got a look at the reconstruction of the plane's cockpit.

Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17th last year. The disaster took the lives of all 298 people on board, including 196 Dutch residents.

What the report revealed is that the plane was shot down by a missile fired by a BUK missile system, though the missile launch site has not yet been determined. The Board determined that the airspace over the conflict area should have been closed, and that the risks were underestimated.

In a reaction, Prime Minister Mark Rutte once again expressed his support for the victims' family and friends. He reiterated that the biggest priority now is to find and prosecute those responsible for the disaster. The Public Prosecutor, part of the Joint Investigation Team performing the criminal investigation, confirmed that the Safety Board's conclusions are in line with their findings to date.
