Mother arrested in teacher’s beating after school trip

A mother was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault after she attacked a teacher of the Jan Hekman school in Oudekerk aan de Amstel. The incident happened after a school trip on Thursday last week. Another mother with a child in the school told Het Parool that group five, with kids aged 8 and 9 years old, went to the Arceon theme park in Alphen aan den Rijn. One boy in the class misbehaved himself so much that the teachers had to call his parents to come and pick him up. This was done by the boy's father. "When the bus with the other children arrived at the school after the trip, the mother heard the story. She walked up to the teacher and attacked her. This happened in front of the eyes of many children and parents." A father intervened. A spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor confirmed to the newspaper that the mother had been arrested for aggravated assault. She also received a contact ban, which means she is allowed at the school but can not make contact with the teacher. The director of the school would only say that they are looking for a "suitable solution". According to Het Parool, the teacher in question is still at home, injured and terrified. The mother who spoke to the newspaper further said that the other parents have not been informed about what will happen now. "For the teacher it is obviously terrible that this happened. But also for that little boy. All the kids at school know what happened. So many children saw it happen that it of course also had to be discussed in the classroom."
