Rescuers save man after mobility scooter crashes into canal

Helpful bystanders managed to fish a man and his mobility scooter out of the water in Nieuwegein on Sunday afternoon. The police expressed their thanks for the bystanders' speedy intervention on Twitter. The man lost control of his scooter on the Brugpad in the city center for unknown reasons and ended up on the water, according to the AD. Bystanders reacted quickly and managed to get both the man and his scooter to safety. According to the police, the man is doing well under the circumstances
