Rome rioters in court this month

The Feyenoord fans who were involved in the riots in Rome earlier this year, will be appearing in court before the end of the month. There are a total of 44 suspects between the ages of 17 and 41 years from all over the country, NU reports. The riots happened in February this year before the football match between AS Roma and Feyenoord. The rioters caused millions of euros worth of damage to the city, including to the recently restored Barcaccia fountain and the Spanish steps. Rioters threw bottles and other items at police officers. One man is suspected of attempted manslaughter after throwing a heavy firework at the police. Following the riots, the police in the Netherlands gathered video footage and photos taken during the riots to identify those involved. For weeks the police released photos of suspected rioters every week in order to identify and arrest them all. The hearing has been scheduled for August 31st
