Netflix announces price hike

Netflix has announced a price increase for its Standard-subscription. New subscribers will now pay 9.99 euros per month. The company made this announcement in an email to its clients, Bright.nl reports. The price hike will affect new clients, existing users will continue to pay what they have always paid until the change subscription. According to Netflix, the price hike is necessary to "continue providing good series and movies". The prices for the Netflix Basic- and Premium subscriptions also remain the same, at 7.99 euros and 11.99 euros per month respectively. This is the second time that Netflix has increased the price for its most popular mid-level subscription. When the company launched in the Netherlands in 2013, a Standard subscription cost 7.99 euros per month.
