DNA leads to suspect in 2014 taxicab armed robbery

The police arrested a 33 year old Rotterdam man on Monday, August 3rd, after a DNA match connected him to a taxi robbery in Hellevoetsluis in December last year. On December 13th last year a taxi driver took a man to an address on Vuurdoorn in Hellevoetsluis. When they arrived at the address, the passenger threatened the taxi driver with a knife, stole his wallet and ran off. The 33 year old man was previously also arrested in connection with this crime, but was released due to insufficient evidence. The Regional Robberies Team continued the investigation, which led them to a DNA profile matching the suspect. The suspect has been arraigned and the magistrate remanded him to 14 days in custody.
