Justice Min.: No apology to fired MH17 forensic investigator
Minister Ard van der Steur of Security and Justice will not apologize to George Maat, the MH17 investigator who became discredited after giving a lecture in which he showed graphic photos of MH17 victims.
The Minister sees no reason to apologize, news agency ANP reports.
Maat is demanding apologies and reparations from the Minister and RTL Nieuws because he believes that RTL's report on the lecture and Van der Steur's subsequent comment that his actions were "extremely inappropriate and distasteful" cost him his job at the National Forensic Investigation team.
Pieter Klein, deputy editor and RTL Nieuws, also announced that they will not apologize. “And no, we will not apologize for one journalistic meticulous publication that served the public interest.” he said on Twitter.
