Foreign investors looking to Dutch lottery
A number of foreign investors are interested in buying the Dutch lottery.
The National Lottery has been on the list of planned privatizations for years. According to the Telegraaf, foreign investors think that a private owner will improve the lottery considerably.
We are certainly interested in going on the Dutch market," Richard Bateson, marketing director of the British lottery company Camelot, told the Telegraaf at the gambling conference Gaming in Holland. "It's a quistion of investing and proper investigation into why people do not play anymore. If you invest in the right marketing, the demand in your product will increase, and if you invest in the right technology, you can meet that demand. It's a very easy business."
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Finance told the newspaper that the decision on whether or not the lottery will be privatized has not been made yet.
