Amsterdam considers cable car gondola over the IJ river
The city of Amsterdam is investigating the feasibility of building a cable car gondola over the IJ river.
This is one of the ideas on bridging the IJ that the college presented on Friday night after an expert committee explored the possibilities in the past few months, AT5 reports. The use of the ferries on the IJ has increased dramatically in recent years, partly due to the rising popularity of Noord.
The committee of experts believe that a combination of two bicycle and pedestrian bridges is another promising option. It would be a Stenen Hoofbrug on the western side of the IJ and a Javabrug on the eastern side.
