Univ. Amsterdam board's expense claims to be made public

The individual expense claims made by the University of Amsterdam's Executive Board will from now on be published on the university's website every 6 months, Het Parool reports. This decision follows the revelation of the university directors' expense claim behavior based on expense statements from 2013 and 2014. It revealed that a number of directors circumvent expense claim rules and spend too much money on, among other things, travel expenses and hotel stays. Following the verification of these reports, the organizations Humanities Rally, University of Color, Rethink UvA and De Nieuwe Universiteit demanded "full disclosure" on the directors' expense claim behavior. The first expense claims will be published on the UvA's website in November this year. From then on it will be published every May and November.
