Motorcycle gang violence puts Haarlem in the spotlight

Motorcycle club violent crime in Noord-Holland, and throughout the Netherlands, is often promoted by the Haarlem chapter of the Hell's Angels. This is according to the newspaper De Telegraaf, based on conversations with 6 sources from within the world of outlaw motorcycle gangs. "The catalyst is the chapter from Haarlem. Especially the president, Lysander de R." one insider said. Haarlem mayor Bernt Schneiders thinks that something should be done. "Police and prosecutors should now pull out all the stops. It must be clear who is in charge here" he said to the Telegraaf last night. The Mayor's car was set on fire on Monday night and he has been under extra protection since. The police are looking in to a possible connection between this car fire and the Hell's Angels.
