Prosecutor: Rotterdam cop abused power for sex

A 42 year old Rotterdam police officer is suspected of misusing police systems to start sexual relationships with vulnerable women. According to the Public Prosecutor in Rotterdam, the man actively searched police records for women who have lost their partner after a crime or accident, AD reports. He then made contact with them and tried to arrange dates. He also approached women in ongoing investigations. A number of women have come forward as witnesses. The man approached them by phone, Facebook or email. It is unclear how many women he approached in this way. The cop was arrested in late April by investigators from the Office Safety Integrity and Complaints for the possession of child pornography. He also shared confidential police information with others. The Prosecutor asked the council chamber in Rotterdam to extend the cop's custody.
