Maxima's US trip continues with UN poverty work

Queen Maxima did not return to the Netherlands after her and King Willem Alexander's official trip to the United States ended on Wednesday. She stayed in America for work on inclusive finance for development in her role as special advocate for UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. The Queen had a number of meetings scheduled in New York for Thursday and Friday, including a meeting with the "Group of Friends of Financial Inclusion", an informal group of 32 countries that are working to improve access to financial services to enable development for low income groups. According to the Telegraaf, Queen Maxima found it better to link the UN visit with the royal couple's 9 day trip to Canada and the U.S., rather than arranging a separate trip.
