Teen gets 20 mos. in jail for stabbing rival student

The court in the Hague has sentenced 16 year old Anthony D. to 20 months in youth detention and youth psychiatric care for stabbing his 15 year old classmate Wesley to death in October last year. The court found the teenager guilty of murder, but with reduced accountability, NU reports. This sentence is in accordance to what the Public Prosecutor demanded. The prosecutor called Anthony a boy with "severe behavioral problems". According to the prosecutor, these problems caused Anthony to get into conflict with others. "That is something other than being bullied." On October 10th, 2014, Anthony and Wesley got into a fight during a lesson in the Corbulo College in Voorburg. During break time, Anthony went to his locker, retrieved a knife and stabbed Wesley on the schoolyard. The severely wounded Wesley stumbled back into the school. He died in the vice-director's office. Anthony allegedly got the knife from a 16 year old Brian. The court did not impose any punishment on him.
