Greek/Dutch film The Lobster in competition at Cannes

The Cannes Film Festival has announced the films in the official selection. The Dutch co-production The Lobster by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos is on the selection and stands a chance to win a Golden Palm this year. The Lobster is set in the near future. Single people have 45 days to find a matching mate or are transformed into animals and released in the woods. The film stars Colin Farrel, Lea Seydoux and Rachel Weisz. There are no films by Dutch directors in the competition or in the fringe program Un Certain Regard this year.
