House chair isolated after leak accusation: report
Kamer president Anouchka van Miltenburg did not discuss the allegations that parliamentarian Linda Voortman had leaked information about the appointment of the National Ombudsman with the Tweede Kamer management before she charged her.
This is according to the executive committee of the Tweede Kamer, lower house of parliament, NPO Radio 1 reports. Van Miltenburg only asked the management for space to find the leak and they found out about the affair around Voortman in the newspapers.
According to Nieuwsuur reporter Dominique van der Heyde, this new information has to be very stressful for Van Miltenburg and she is starting to become completely isolated now that her colleages are withdrawing their support.
In June there De Telegraaf reported that GroenLinks parliamentarian Voortman had leaked the names of the candidates for the National Ombudsman to the press. Voortman was suspended because of this. It later turned out that the accusation was wrong.
